Young ASOSAI Excellence Program 2027

I. Background

The Strategic Plan of ASOSAI 2022–2027 points out that young auditors are of great importance for the sustainable development of the audit profession, and that ASOSAI plans to establish a platform for young auditors of member Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs), aiming to nurture and develop young audit professionals with cutting-edge expertise and global visions.

In September 2024, Mr. Hou Kai, Secretary General of ASOSAI and Auditor General of China, announced to all ASOSAI representatives at the 16^th ASOSAI Assembly that the National Audit Office of China (CNAO) would actively help ASOSAI build a platform for exchange among young auditors in Asia, promote the exchange and growth of young Asian auditors, and contribute new strength to the continued development of the audit profession in Asia.

After the initiative, CNAO launched the Young ASOSAI Excellence Program (YAEP) in 2025. Looking to the future development of the international audit profession, the Program aims to provide young auditors from the member SAIs of ASOSAI with an international platform for exchange and cooperation to broaden horizons, share knowledge, enhance capabilities and build friendship.

IV. Registration

Each member SAI of ASOSAI may nominate one participant to attend the Program. The participant must be under 45 years old (born after 1 January 1982) and have at least five years of work experience in the SAI. Participants are expected to have a working proficiency in English.

Each participant is required to submit the following materials before 18 December 2026:

i. an online registration form;
ii. a scanned copy of the passport for travel to China;
iii. a personal ID photo;
iv. one case study of using technological innovation in an audit that was carried out by the SAI (Example | Template).

Important: Failure to provide the above materials by the deadline will be assumed as voluntary withdrawal from the Program, and the vacancy will be released to other SAIs.

V. Costs

ASOSAI and CNAO will cover the following costs for the participants:

one economy-class round-trip air ticket between a city in the country of the participant's SAI and the venue of the Program;
accommodation and meals at the venue during the Program;
transportation for group activities during the Program;
international travel insurance;
a per diem during the Program;
a meeting package.

Any costs other than those listed above shall be borne by the participating SAI or the participants themselves, including but not limited to the cost of visa applications, accommodation and meals during airport transit, accommodation and meals outside the Program dates, transportation for activities not listed in the Program, and personal expenses of the participants.
